About us & this agreement
These terms govern your use of the USTBAS Online Academy website (ustbas.uk) and any educational programme you enrol your child in with us. By submitting a register-of-interest form, attending a consultation, or enrolling your child, you agree to these terms.
We are USTBAS Online Academy, an independent online educational service for primary-age children, operated from the United Kingdom. You can reach us at hello@ustbas.uk.
What we are (and what we aren't)
USTBAS is a specialist online tuition academy for home-educated children in Years 3 to 6. We are not a registered school in the United Kingdom and we do not replace any duty owed by a school to its pupils.
We don't issue formal qualifications, sit children for SATs, or act as a Local Authority. We do provide a structured, mastery-based curriculum aligned to the UK National Curriculum, and we issue our own progress reports three times per academic year.
Enrolment process
- Step 1 — Register your interest. Submit the form on the website. This places you in our evaluation queue and is non-binding for both sides.
- Step 2 — Specialist consultation. A short video call between the lead teacher, you, and your child, so we can confirm the academy is the right fit.
- Step 3 — Enrolment offer. If both sides are happy, we send a written enrolment offer specifying the year group, cohort time, and fees.
- Step 4 — Acceptance & deposit. Your child's seat is held only once the registration fee or annual deposit clears. Until then, the place may be offered to another family.
Each cohort is capped at ten students per year group. We may decline an offer if a place is no longer available, or if we believe the academy isn't the best fit for your child's needs.
Fees & payment
Fees for the 2026/27 academic year are:
- Monthly plan — £700 per calendar month, plus a one-time £250 registration fee that is deducted from your first month. First month total: £450; subsequent months: £700.
- Annual plan — £6,500 paid in advance for the full academic year. This represents a £500 saving against the monthly plan.
Fees are quoted in pounds sterling (GBP). Prices may be revised between academic years; any change will be confirmed to you in writing before you renew.
The annual deposit is non-refundable once paid; it secures your child's seat in a strictly capped cohort. Monthly fees are payable in advance on the 1st of each calendar month. We reserve the right to suspend a child's access to live lessons if fees fall more than 14 days in arrears, after a written reminder.
Cancellation & refunds
Before lessons begin
You have a 14-day "cooling-off" period from the date of payment to cancel and receive a full refund (less the £250 registration fee on the monthly plan, which covers our admin costs). After 14 days, the registration fee and the annual deposit are non-refundable, but pro-rata refunds may apply on the monthly plan.
Once lessons have begun
You may withdraw your child at any time by giving us one calendar month's written notice. You are responsible for fees up to the end of that notice period. Annual-plan deposits are not refundable mid-year, but we will consider exceptional circumstances on a case-by-case basis.
Where we cancel a place
If we cancel an enrolment offer or end a child's enrolment for reasons other than a serious breach of these terms (for example, if we have to close a cohort), we will refund any fees paid for periods after the cancellation date.
Attendance, schedule & technical requirements
Lessons are delivered live, online, three hours per day, four days per week, across a 36-week academic year. Term dates are published on the FAQ page and confirmed in your enrolment offer.
You agree to:
- Provide a reliable broadband connection, a working webcam and microphone, and a quiet, well-lit environment for your child during lessons.
- Make best efforts to ensure your child attends every scheduled session. Persistent unexplained absence may result in withdrawal of the place so it can be offered to another family.
- Ensure your child attends sessions ready to learn, in line with the academy's character expectations (Islamic adab, courteous communication, focus).
We may need to reschedule individual sessions in exceptional circumstances (illness, technical failure, force majeure). Where this happens we will offer a make-up session within the same term wherever practical.
Conduct & safeguarding
USTBAS is built around an Islamic ethos and a culture of mutual respect. We expect all participants — staff, students, and parents — to conduct themselves accordingly during and around lessons.
We reserve the right to remove a student from the academy where a child or parent's behaviour is repeatedly disruptive, disrespectful, or unsafe, after at least one written warning. In that case, fees paid for the current month are not refundable, but no further fees will be taken.
Lessons may be recorded for safeguarding and quality-assurance purposes only. Recordings are not shared publicly, are stored securely, and are deleted once they are no longer needed. Parents and students must not record, screenshot, or redistribute lessons without our prior written consent.
Intellectual property
All teaching materials, lesson plans, recordings, worksheets, and content on the website remain our intellectual property (or that of our licensors). Enrolled families receive a personal, non-transferable, non-commercial licence to use the materials we share for the purpose of their child's education. You may not redistribute, republish, resell, or use our materials to train an AI model.
You retain full ownership of any work your child produces.
Liability
We will provide the programme with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where it cannot be limited by law (including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud).
Subject to that, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with the academy is limited to the fees you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control.
You remain responsible at all times for the supervision and welfare of your child during online lessons.
Changes & governing law
We may update these terms from time to time. We'll let you know directly if a change materially affects an enrolled family. The version in effect at the time you enrol applies for the rest of that academic year unless we agree otherwise.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
